The last flowers of various cultivars of Symphyotrichum novi-belgii (Michaelmas daisy, New York aster) and other species of clump-forming, herbaceous perennials. This is such a lovely way to display flowers in a garden or house.

There were harsh shadows as the sun was beating down relentlessly. Diffused light would’ve been nice. Thankfully, a stop of underexposure applied here had helped keep highlights from clipping and also retained the colours. Shadows were also lifted a tad in post.

A reliable perennial plant Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Purple Dome' (Michaelmas daisy, New York aster) produces a compact clump with a domed habit. In the autumn there are semi-double, purple flowers with yellow centres.

🍎 The Unicorn of New York Rests in a Garden🪻

My piece for Mirror Image: A Dimension 20 Exhibition, one of the many zines from this year’s D20 Zine Jam. The zine was all about reimagining existing artworks within the realms of Dimension 20! My piece is in reference to the Unicorn Tapestries, and features the Unicorn of New York from The Unsleeping City. Each of the flowers in this piece is chosen to represent one of the PCs from the show, and each flower is native to Staten Island, Manhattan, and Long Island.
